New Northern Opportunities for Be Onsite

Lend Lease’s not-for-profit company Be Onsite continues to grow and is providing employment and training opportunities across the Project Management and Construction and Facilities management disciplines.

The Project Management and Construction team working on the £34m Creative and Media Academies in Manchester have recruited two new apprentices as trainee construction and commercial managers, as well as a general operative who will support the Lend Lease project team.  The trainees were recruited through the North West Construction Hub employment project and demonstrate our commitment to supporting young people in the industry to our Hub framework clients.

The University of Sheffield team provided summer work placement opportunities for a number of people to work as water hygiene operatives. The opportunities were for a 10-week period over the summer and were offered to young people who were leaving care and needed some extra support to gain employment. Working with Sheffield City Council, the team found more people than were needed.  This enabled them to work on a rota basis; fitting their hours to suit any benefit conditions and also allowed for the varying degree of skills and experience. The physical experience of work, as well as starting to work towards gaining a qualification, has now helped to prepare them for full-time employment.

Warrington Golden Square has also recruited three new staff to work for their facilities management company, Andron. Warrington Disability Partnership and the local college were also involved in the recruitment process. The vacancies for a cleaner, porter and painter and decorator were filled with local people who either had never worked or who had been unemployed for more than 12 months.

In this way, Be Onsite continues to lead our industry in providing inspiration and opportunity for all.
