“I feel that before BeOnsite my head was all
cloudy but now it is all clear, the clouds have
gone. I am so thankful.”
Jefferson Bastin
Jefferson Bastin, from Forest Gate, left school at 16, with two qualifications
in music and drama but no idea what to do for a job. He was sent on a
course to help him find direction and employment and worked until he was
18 in a video rental chain.
He says: “It was while I was there that I started to wonder where my life
was going, I had no ambition and realised something was wrong, I started
to look around me and saw people in their 30’s and 40’s who were
unhappy, There is no point in having a job you don’t enjoy, you have to
want to do it.”
Jefferson started to look into construction and carpentry, but realised that if
he wanted to get on in the industry he would have to become qualified. His
size led him to the BeOnsite demolition course!
He said: “I am very practical and I am also very big and I thought I should
use it to my advantage! The demolition course has been really good fun. I
feel like a new man, I had no ambition and no where to go. I feel that
before BeOnsite my head was all cloudy but now it is all clear, the clouds
have gone. I am so thankful.” |
